Welcome to The CrW

We are the University of Alberta’s Creative Writing Club—The CrW for short—a social space for writers of all walks of life looking for a place to work, critique and share with other like-minded individuals.

What We Do

We are a hangout spot for all kinds of writers, ranging from the curious story enthusiasts to hardcore manuscript machines!

General meetings are a mix between casual hangouts and dedicated work session pushing writers to get words on the page.

Outside general meetings, The CrW hosts speakers from both University Professors and Industry professionals talking about the craft. Movie nights and our Poetry Slam events happen at least once a semester with a smattering of all kinds of other events.

The Anthology is also our yearly project where we collect stories from across campus and publish them in our own club run book. An invitation to any writer looking for exposure!

Weekly Meetings

Our club meetings are every Thursday, starting at 4:00 PM to 6:00PM at Heritage Lounge inside Athabasca Hall. These are casual hangouts between writers and are supposed to be noncommittal. Don’t feel pressured to stay the full time.

If you have any questions, send us an email at thecrw@ualberta.ca, or head over to our Contact page and fill out our form.
